Lumina
Digital Imaging is changing the way photography is being done in the Northwest. Our style of shooting along with the use of the latest technology and our philosophy in first developing relationships with our clients before beginning the photo assignment makes Lumina distinctively different from any other studio.
And, being fully digital gives Lumina advantages over most traditional studios. For instance, we don't have the cost associated with film and film processing – so our in-studio photo sessions often capture hundreds of images instead of just 12 to 36 photos that other photographers work with.
In addition, we can print images (from the same file) in full color, black & white or sepia-tone. There is no need to waste time shooting with multiple cameras and doing different light set ups. With our high definition digital cameras, we can shoot and then print a variety of different images from a single digital negative.
What's more --
With digital imaging, we have the immediate confidence of capturing our photos – and know that they have turned out the way the client wants without having to wait a week to get the film back from the lab and then see if the photos turned out OK or not. This is a huge competitive advantage over work done by most photographers who are working just with film.
For more than 60 years, photos have been delivered to the client the same way. Proofs are shown, the client selects their choice and then pays the studio price for the prints that are ordered. The client must pay whatever the studio charges because the studio has the negatives and does NOT release the rights to them. So, if you want a single 8 x 10” print made, you have to go through the photographer's studio – and in this area, you may have to pay as much as $80 for a single print.
But, Lumina is changing this structure by giving the client the digital files and letting the client decide where the prints are printed – on their own printer, at an outside photo processing lab … or by Lumina. The choice is given back to YOU, the customer.
